Old Fashioned Pancakes

Written by ANAS

HOld-Fashioned Pancakes—fluffy, tender, and perfect for a hearty breakfast. These pancakes are made with simple pantry staples, just like Grandma used to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted (plus extra for greasing the skillet)

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. Prepare Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl or large measuring cup, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Combine:
Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined—don’t overmix! The batter will be slightly lumpy, which is okay.
  4. Preheat Skillet:
Heat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray.
  5. Cook Pancakes:
For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown, another 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve:
Stack the pancakes on a plate and serve warm with butter, maple syrup, or your favorite toppings.

Topping Ideas

  • Classic: Butter and maple syrup
  • Fruity: Fresh berries, sliced bananas, or stewed apples
  • Sweet: Chocolate chips, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar
  • Nutty: Peanut butter, almond butter, or chopped nuts

These pancakes are the epitome of comfort food and will quickly become a family favorite!
