Ingredients:
For the Bars:
1 3/4cups sugar
1 cup butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons baking powder
21 ounces cherry pie filling
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tablespoons milk
1½ teaspoon almond extract
Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10½ x 15½ jelly roll pan.
In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar, butter, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in the flour and baking powder until just combined.
Spread 2/3 of the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter.
Drop the remaining batter by teaspoonfuls over the cherry filling.
Bake for 33-38 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the bars to cool completely. In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract until smooth to prepare the glaze.
